Our Most EXCITING Day of Narrowboating
We have crossed a lot of borders by land, air, and sea. But never have we ever had anything as stunning, or as memorable, as this crossing from England to Wales by narrowboat.
If I had to describe navigating the Llangollen canal in one sentence, it would be: High action in slow motion. The first 11 miles are designated as a world heritage site for its beauty and historic engineering…and it’s easy to see why.
Join us today as we cross the stream in the sky (aka the highest aqueduct in the world), go through the longest, darkest tunnel in Wales and make our way to the source of it all, horseshoe falls. This is the day we’ve been waiting for and the whole reason we choose this canal as our first narrowboat adventure.
🛟Cruising The Cut
If you missed our first narrowboat video with David Johns, AKA Cruising The Cut…then you missed a lot. David has an entire channel dedicated to all things associated with cruising the canals of Great Britain. It's called Cruising The Cut. And he couldn’t resist the opportunity to make a video about us, a couple of American sailors having a go at narrowboating.
Hire Your Own Narrowboat
ABC Boat Hire was David’s recommendation, and he was spot on. They agreed to host us and the whole experience was smooth as butter. They have locations all over Britain so you can pick up at one marina and drop off at another, make a loop or whatever your heart desires. Aside from food, the boat had everything we needed for the trip including training on how to operate these long narrowboats.
No previous boating experience needed! So this is truly an adventure for anyone and by the end of this series, I bet it will be on your bucket list too (if it wasn’t already).
